Why this site exists

This site exists for one reason: when the August 10, 2026 earthquake struck, official information arrived hours late, from ten different sites, with contradicting numbers. Families searched for missing loved ones across dozens of citizen-run pages. International donors didn't know where to direct their support. This site consolidates — verified, bilingual, free, and nonprofit — the three things people need most when they want to help: where to donate, what is happening, and who their loved ones are looking for.

How we work

A small team supported by AI. Every morning at 6:00 AM Bogotá time, an automated service collects information from 34 official sources (UNGRD, SGC, Presidencia, DIMAR), humanitarian sources (OCHA, ReliefWeb, WFP, Red Cross), and verified press (El Tiempo, Semana, El Colombiano, Reuters, AP, BBC). A language model (Claude Sonnet 4.5) drafts a bilingual report with traceable citations. A human editor reviews before publishing. We never invent figures. When sources disagree, we show the differences with context.

How we verify

Every figure cited on the site comes from a linked, public source. Missing-persons reports are moderated manually before appearing publicly. Photographs are from verified agencies (Reuters, AFP, AP, Getty) or Colombian press, each with credit. Donation partners are registered nonprofits with a track record in disaster response, and Charity Navigator or BBB ratings where available.

How we're funded

The site operates as a nonprofit. Infrastructure costs (AWS, domain, Stripe) are covered by Sabin Larsen, the founder. Every donation received through our aggregator fund is passed through in full (minus Stripe fees) to partner NGOs monthly, with public distribution reports. We charge no commission, sell no data, and don't monetize with advertising.

The team

Sabin Larsen — founder. Software engineer with 30+ years in data and infrastructure projects. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Andrew Reyes — co-lead, community outreach. Dual citizen of the US and Colombia, based in Fort Collins. Middle school teacher and a founding member of Salsa Forte Latin Collective. Andrew leads the site's outreach to the Colombian diaspora and the Fort Collins community.

Salsa Forte Latin Collective — a group of Fort Collins musicians and educators who have performed salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata, and Latin jazz across Colorado's Front Range for 16 years. Salsa Forte works with the team to raise awareness of the site's mission through musical performances and public announcements in the diaspora community.

Andrea Mojica — project lead in Chocó and 3+ Security Colombia's representative for the earthquake response. Andrea manages logistics for Colombia's August 10 earthquake response, coordinating donations with 3+ Security Colombia. Operating from Bogotá district and Red Cross collection hubs, she oversees the collection, palletization, and dispatch of critical supplies. Her technical oversight ensures efficient supply-chain pipelines directly to disaster-affected zones in Chocó and Buenaventura. She is also a volunteer with the local Cruz Roja chapter.

3+ Security Colombia — operational logistics and security partner. A Colombian integrated-security company owned by Martin Tarazona, contributing pro bono to the earthquake response: physical logistics escort, cash-in-transit from central collection points to community distributors, coordination from their 24/7 operations center, and volunteer background checks.

Site development is assisted by AI agents (Perplexity Computer, Claude Code) working under human supervision. All editorial, moderation, and financial decisions are made by a human.
